Roles. And some rambling.
December 17th, 2006Mikkie says that dorks who can’t play guitar ruined D&D. I am inclined to agree, even though I didn’t actually get to play much D&D ever. Because my mom thought it was Satanic and would make me commit suicide.
I never really knew anyone who roleplayed. Everyone I was friends with was into the punk rock. (Or as into the punk rock as it was possible to be in Alabama before the internet.) I never saw anyone who was goth in high school. Mostly cause that would have been like asking to get your ass beaten every single day. So I hung out with skaters.
My dad was always worried about the hippies getting a hold of me and ruining my brain, or whatever. He ought to have been worried about the ROCKING.
Anyway, back to D&D. We were trying to figure out how you get from dice (which we approve of) to people in capes standing around playing rock, paper, scissors.
I personally think the whole thing is Anne Rice’s fault. But Mik thinks it’s the lack of guitar skills. Because D&D can lead right to crazy Dio lightening and wizards METAL!! Which, as we all know, ROOLS. Hell, if it leads to Weezer Blue album nerd rock, then it still rools. But where does the Masque lead, besides to me wanting to hurl? (I’m allergic to posers.)
I think there should be some kind of line for goths between the people into the whole Masque bullshit– with the pretension and utter lack of a sense of humor– and the people who are just truly into classic goth interests.
It’s like the crazy people took over the skellingtons while my back was turned. Gimmie my skellingtons back, crazy people!
