Advent Children: Part I
April 30th, 2006So… Advent Children.
First, let me just say how we almost didn’t get it. I did not pre-order it. I know, right? But people have been waiting on this forEVER, and its a big deal, and I just sort of figured that there would be stacks and stacks overflowing with yummy Cloud-y goodness. I am not the only one that thought that. *cough ALI cough* So I go in my GameCrazy! on Tuesday to pick up a copy, and they laughed at me. For real. But persistence and begging and having boobs totally pays off. Because. GameCrazy! Dude, after a) laughing at me, b) apologizing profusely, and c)trying to console me by suggesting other options that probably wouldn’t pan out but I could try anyway, finally caved and called his friend who he thought might have been a cheapskate and bought it at Best Buy at the crack of dawn to save $5 dollars. Which turned out to be true. And then he went through every copy in the store to count against the list and make sure that there were enough for everyone who had called in to reserve what few extras they’d ended up with. 15 minutes later? I get Cheapskate Dude’s copy, which was the LAST copy in, apparently, all of South Jersey. Yay!
And then I promptly did not watch it until last night. Tempting, yes. But a couple of weeks ago, Ali suggested that we watch it together (good thing, since it was the aforementioned Last Copy in All of South Jersey, and possibly the Mid-Atlantic), hence the Friday night. Our conversation:
Ali: So… you should make a pie.
Me: I… OMG! You’re right.
Ali: Yay! We’ll have -
Me: Cloud Pie.
Ali: …what?
Me: I have to make CLOUD PIE. It can’t be just ANY pie.
Ali: … ok. Yay! Cloud Pie! And there should be some kind of boo-
Me: Jenova Juice.
Ali: TEE! Yes! Rad! It’ll be like that time you made Arzt Burgers and Numbers Soup for the season premiere of Lost!
Me: Yes! It’ll be THE BEST THING EVER.
Ali: I KNOW! So. What exactly is in Cloud Pie and Jenova Juice?
Me: Um… oh, HELL.
And so it began.
